Ziggy recently attended the much-anticipated finals of the SocialTech Startup Network series, hosted by InnovationQuarter, municipality of The Hague, and YES!Delft. The event follows an action-packed six-week programme designed to connect the 9 participating start-ups to important decision makers within The Hague. Winning a surprise award with the prize of expert mentorship from YES!Delft, Ziggy was a proud participant.
Set against the impressive backdrop of the Digital Hub of YES!Delft, The Hague, attendees from the social-tech community and a four-member jury watched on as each start-up pitched their business idea. Industry experts formed the jury: Ad Blom, ex-Innovation Manager of Pieter van Foreest and current Practor in health and wellbeing, Charlotte Krom, Program Manager of Zorg naar Kracht at the municipality of The Hague, Erwin Tak, Project Manager of Technology at the municipality of The Hague, and Anna Handschuh, Director of YES!Delft Rotterdam.

Start-ups were unified by their social ambitions, ranging from tech platforms engaging those who cannot participate in physical outings through to cuddle buddies creating comforting environments for vulnerable children to communicate with clinicians. Ultimately, however, there were prizes at stake. First prize, a pilot with the municipality of The Hague, was awarded to MedAssist, a two-way augmented reality app allowing anyone to access medical support no matter where they are. In the coming year, inhabitants of The Hague will get the chance to try out this interesting new concept.
During the awards ceremony, the audience were surprised by the reveal of an additional prize, awarded to Ziggy! With this prize, Ziggy will be given access to expert mentorship through YES!Delft, accelerating its progress further. The connections – both business and personal – established over the last two months have proved some of the most valuable to date; the opportunity for Ziggy continue working with these partners is very exciting.
